Department of Mental Health Services
The Department of Mental Health is comprised of three major programs: Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse Control Services, and the Public Guardian's office. These programs are divided into five services that enable the department to provide prompt, efficient, professional, culturally competent, and sensitive community-based services throughout the County:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Because of severe budget restrictions the days of operation with programs have been restricted. Generally programs are closed on Fridays, but please check each program listing to determine the exact days and hours of operation.

Adult Mental Health Services & Older Adult Mental Health Services
These programs serve as the entities responsible for coordinating the development of service delivery to the stakeholders and the community it serves. The design and practice of these service systems of care is continually evaluated and improved through the development of policy, procedures, and performance outcome data that ensure service quality and best practice for care. The framework is dynamically designed so individuals can enter/access services and re-enter or exit the system at any point, depending on their needs. Re-entry is not a failure. It is "Recovery" focused and designed to provide services across five primary dimensions: mental health promotion wellness activities, access, services that support recovery, community based supports, and transition services.

Children's Services
This program serves children and adolescent referred by their families, schools, health care providers, etc., or who are wards or dependents of the Juvenile Court. Problems covered include: disruptive behavior disorders, mood disorders, and other emotional problems. Children's Services provides a broad range of child-centered, strength-based, family focused,, and culturally competent services to children and adolescents. The services include:
- Individual/group/family therapy
- Medication support
- Crisis intervention
- Residential care
- Hospitalization
- Supportive counseling
- Education and information for parents and families
- Case management to assist in accessing other needed services
- Referrals to other facilities

Public Guardian
This program provides conservatorship investigation services, conservator administration services with a complement of accounting, property, and clerical support. The division provides forensics psychiatric support for persons placed under a Welfare and Institution code conservatorship. this office works closely with the mental health case management program in providing representative payee services to qualified client of the Department of Mental Health. The institution of Mental Disease (IMD) collection unit collects reimbursements for the Department of Mental health.

Substance Abuse Program
This program provides accessible, high quality treatment for alcohol and substance abuse control. This program offers a wide range of countrywide treatment, intervention, and prevention services that include assessment, group counseling, orientation to 12-step programs and sobriety, maintenance through support groups, overall case management, and referral to outside services.
